At a glance

IRONMAN Lake Placid is a full-distance (140.6-mile) triathlon held each July in the Adirondack village of Lake Placid, New York, the second-oldest full-distance IRONMAN race in North America. The 3.8 km swim is two cabled loops of Mirror Lake. The 180 km bike is two loops through the Adirondacks, including the Keene descent, the Jay loop, the climb from Wilmington on Route 86, and the three rollers known as "the Bears," totaling roughly 7,000 to 8,000 feet of climbing. The 42.2 km run is two loops through the village, finishing on the Olympic speed-skating oval. It is the only full-distance race on Wingman's 2027 calendar and, per Stephan, the hardest one on it.
